All of the old wineries in Hoşköy and its surroundings are located by the sea. Since ‘in the past’ there was only transportation by sea, the produced wines were left at sea in large barrels, pulled onto ships and sent to the Winemakers' Pier in Karaköy, Istanbul, and from there to different cities and countries.
Melen Winery is also located by the sea in Hoşköy. Production continues where grandfather Ahmet Çetintaş started his winemaking adventure in the 1920s. The old concrete warehouses inside the winery are replaced by chrome tanks, French oak barrels and modern equipment, but the stone texture of the building is preserved in its original form.
